# Countdown Timer banner

**What is a Countdown Timer Banner?**

A **Countdown Timer Banner** is a banner that combines a message with a real-time countdown clock — helping you create urgency and encourage customers to act fast.

To get started:\
**Go to** `Create Banner` → **Select** `Countdown timer`.

> 👉 **First time creating a banner?**\
> Follow this quick [step-by-step guide](/getting-started/how-to-create-a-banner.md) to learn how to create and publish your first banner.

## **1. Set up your content**

<figure><img src="https://1289081335-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAmqp7RxqJNuSEGCBn5Og%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-06d60f8e301f5df37a8f75c1dc7938a1e68faa68%2Fimage%20(129).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In the **Content** section, write the main message for your campaign — for example: **“Flash Sale ends soon!”** or **“Get 20% OFF for the next 2 hours!”**

You can also **tick the Coupon option** if you want to show a promo code directly in the banner.

<figure><img src="https://1289081335-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAmqp7RxqJNuSEGCBn5Og%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f39a741e1b77a2fed7dda9694d3938011fc95e93%2Fimage%20(130).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **2. Configure the Countdown**

<figure><img src="https://1289081335-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAmqp7RxqJNuSEGCBn5Og%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-d13a37d8aa4856a25996275d32ec57717180c701%2Fimage%20(131).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Go to the **Countdown** section to choose how your timer should behave. There are 4 countdown types:

### **2.1. In specific date/time**

Use this option if you want the countdown to run during a fixed time period only.

🛠 **How to set it up:**

* **Start time**: When the countdown should begin
* **End time**: When it should stop

📌 **Example**:

* Start: **July 31, 2025 – 02:23 PM**
* End: **August 1, 2025 – 02:23 AM**

✅ **Best for**:

* Limited-time promotions
* Holiday campaigns

***

### **2.2. Run daily at specific time**

This option makes the countdown appear at the same time every day.

🛠 **How to set it up:**

* **From time**: When the countdown starts each day
* **To time**: When it stops daily

📌 **Example**:

* From: **12:00 AM**
* To: **11:59 PM**

✅ **Best for**:

* Daily deals
* Flash sales
* "Today only" campaigns
* Time-limited daily events

***

### **2.3. Run in certain interval**

Use this for repeating countdown cycles with a pause in between.

🛠 **How to set it up:**

* **Start time**: When the first countdown starts
* **Countdown length**: How long each countdown runs
* **Break length**: How long the countdown hides before restarting

📌 **Example**:

* Start: **July 31, 2025 – 02:23 PM**
* Countdown runs for **31 days**
* Breaks for **31 days**

▶️ **What happens**:\
The countdown will run for 31 days, then pause for 31 days, and repeat this cycle automatically.

✅ **Best for**:

* Monthly recurring campaigns
* Automating sales cycles

### **2.4. Evergreen countdown**

This countdown is unique to each visitor — it starts counting down individually from the moment they first see the banner.

🛠 **How to set it up:**

* **Countdown length:** Choose how long the countdown should run for each visitor (in days, hours, and minutes).\
  Example: 0 day 0 hour 15 minutes\
  → The countdown will start when a visitor first sees the banner and run for 15 minutes.

📌 **How it works:**

* The timer runs specifically for each visitor and keeps counting down as long as they use the same browser and device.
* If the visitor switches devices, browsers, or clears their cache, the countdown will restart from the beginning.

✅ **Best for:**

* Personalized urgency campaigns
* Limited-time offers per visitor
* “Hurry up!” deals that reset for each new visitor

💡 **Tips:**\
Combine this countdown with the **“item added to cart”** trigger to create stronger urgency.\
For example, show a 15-minute countdown banner right after a customer adds an item to their cart — offering a discount during that time to encourage them to complete checkout quickly.

#### 🎨 **Customize your Countdown Display**

After choosing a countdown type, you can customize its look and feel:

  * Show **00:00:00**
  * Or **hide the entire banner**
* Adjust **font size**, **color**
* **Adjust label names**

#### 🧠 **Tips & Best Practices**

* Use **Schedule conditions** to refine when your banner shows.\
  For example: If you select "Run daily at specific time" but want it to appear only on **Mondays and Tuesdays**, combine it with **"Display in fixed time range"** in the **Schedule** settings.\
  ![](https://1289081335-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAmqp7RxqJNuSEGCBn5Og%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-20e2e61f3dff0fdc19c79e0c514372ae1ce9dbf2%2Fimage%20\(133\).png?alt=media)

## **3. Set a Call-to-Action**

<figure><img src="https://1289081335-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FAmqp7RxqJNuSEGCBn5Og%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-4e5f9c3223c5a2458ab6668cc1be7cc25aa5027a%2Fimage%20(134).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Want to drive clicks?\
In the **Call to Action** section, you can add a button like:

* **"Shop Now"**
* **"Grab the Deal"**
* **"Use Code"**

You can also customize the button’s style, text, and destination link.
